Employers Help Retirees Analyze Health Care Options with New ACS Tool

October 29, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) announced the launch of a tool to help large employers meet the changing health care needs of retirees.

Informed Health Navigator analyzes retirees’ medical and drug claims, identifies Medicare enrollment options, and makes plan recommendations, said Will Saunders, ACS senior vice president, in the announcement. It provides retirees with personalized information about the plans available in their geographic area and how they compare with the retiree’s specific medical service and prescription utilization, and helps them select the most cost-effective plans for their needs.

The tool helps plan administrators and retirees navigate wide-ranging and complex health care choices, and supports retiree health plan sponsors in managing competing Medicare plan options. Informed Health Navigator also offers access to a customer care center with trained representatives who can assist retirees in making health care decisions.

“Informed Health Navigator has the potential to reduce contributions and lower out-of-pocket expenses for members, and lower overall costs to plan sponsors,” said Saunders, in the announcement. “Retiree health care costs make corporations less competitive in a global market, and Informed Health Navigator provides companies a solution once they have made the decision to change retirement benefit structures.”
