Employers More Accepting of Online Degrees

October 19, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Eighty five percent of employers feel online degrees are more acceptable than they were five years ago, according to Vault Inc.'s 2005 Online Degree Survey.

In a press release on the survey, the company said 34% of survey respondents said they have encountered applicants with online degrees and 20% said they have hired one. According to the release, one respondent who hired a candidate with an online degree said, “The person was tested in all aspects of their field of study with respect to the position and won the position. Great hire it turned out to be!!”

While 54% said they still favored a traditional degree, 45% said they would give consideration to candidates with both types of degrees. Eighty six percent would be willing to accept an applicant with an online degree, however, 14% said that both an online bachelor degree and graduate degree are not acceptable.

The survey obtained 107 responses from employers representing a variety of industries across the US.
