Family More Important Than Work

May 8, 2002(PLANSPONSOR.com) - Many workers are more concerned about balancing their families and their careers than they are about being laid off, a new survey finds.

Some 32% of workers polled said the ability to balance business and personal demands was most important to them.

Meanwhile, 22% cited job security while another 18% of respondents said earning a competitive salary was uppermost on their mind.

Just over one in ten respondents viewed keeping their technical skills current as their key issue while 10% claimed receiving an advanced degree or certification was most important.

The survey, which covered 567 people who were at least 18 years old, was conducted by OfficeTeam, a staffing service. All respondents were employed full time in professional environments.
