Fidelity Snags Asset Allocation Executive From Barclays

October 3, 2006 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Fidelity Investments' Pyramis Global Advisors has appointed Mark Friebel, formerly of Barclays Global Investors, to head its Asset Allocation reporting division.

align=”left”>According to a Fidelity news release, in this newly created position, Friebel will develop and oversee the management of asset allocation strategies and products for Pyramis. He will report to Young Chin, chief investment officer at Pyramis, which focuses on the investments of corporate and public retirement funds, endowments, foundations, other institutions, and non-US investors.

Friebel most recently held a similar position at San Francisco-based Barclays as the head of the asset allocation and product strategy, in which he developed asset allocation products that employed commodity, currency, overlay and custom alpha/beta strategies, along with Barclays’ first lifecycle product, the release said.

Friebel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Santa Clara Universityand a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in international management from Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management.
