The company said Empyrean has the technology that supports the services required to manage an increasingly complex employee benefits environment.
The EBS Co-Sourcing practice allows clients to delegate many of the tactical functions of health and welfare benefit plan administration so they can focus on the strategic issues they face. Among the services provided are benefits administration, counselors for employee health and welfare benefits, employee self-service, data management for open and ongoing enrollments, COBRA/HIPAA administration, fulfillment coordination and integration with the other EBS service areas.

Empyrean will provide the service platform, call center support and administrative functions. As part of the agreement, 21 current EBS employees will become Empyrean employees as of January 1, 2012.
