Ford To Offer Cradle-to-Grave, 24-Hour Services

November 29, 2000 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Round-the-clock childcare will be available to more than 300,000 employees of Ford and Visteon Corporation in 15 states beginning next year.

The Family Service and Learning Center program was masterminded during 1999 contract negotiations between the United Auto Workers (UAW) and Ford, according to SHRM Online. 

The program will also include:

  • before- and after-school preteen and teen programs
  • adult and family education programs
  • retiree programs

The FSLC program’s 24-hour childcare facilities will be located in and around Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Louisville, Ky.; and Kansas City, Mo.-areas with high concentrations of UAW employees. 

The FSLC programs will also be available in more than 30 locations around the United States.

A concierge service called Can We Help? will refer employees to family-friendly dining places, help them purchase concert tickets, and offer references to a variety of home services.
