FRIDAY FUN – July 31, 2020

And now it's time for FRIDAY FUN!

Human’s best friend, dancing in the streets, a deer attack, and more.

In Gwinnett County, Georgia, in an inspiring story about police and inmates working together, a deputy was not feeling well as he conducted security checks in the jail’s housing unit. Some inmates noticed this and kept an eye on him as he returned to his seat. They watched as he lost consciousness and fell onto the concrete floor, splitting his head open, the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. The inmates began pounding on their doors which led to the entire unit making noise. “Our deputy later stated that while he did not realize he’d been unconscious, he became aware of what sounded like pounding drums and could hear inmates shouting his name over and over. He immediately thought an inmate needed help and somehow managed to rise to his feet and press the control panel to open cell doors,” the Sheriff’s Office said. Three inmates rushed out of their cells and rendered aid to the deputy, who had lost consciousnesses again. They used the deputy’s desk phone and radio to call for help. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy is currently recovering at home. The Sheriff’s Office posted: “These inmates came to his aid because our deputy, like most law enforcement officers, treats people with the dignity they deserve. Many people have strong opinions about law enforcement officers and criminals, but this incident clearly illustrates the potential goodness found in both.”

On the other hand, in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, after receiving calls about two naked people walking a dog, officers saw a man and woman, who were completely nude, walking down the street with a medium-sized black dog. According to the Milford Daily News, when questioned, the couple yelled and swore at the officers. When told they were going to be arrested, they ran. When police caught up with them, the couple fought, injuring one officer. They now face charges of indecent exposure, assault and battery on a police officer, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

In St. Leonards, New South Wales, Australia, forget lady luck, it’s more like baby luck for one couple. A man bought a lottery ticket on the day his wife was due to give birth, for that reason, he said. The lottery ticket was a $71,610.15 top prize winner, and the man’s wife gave birth to a healthy baby.
