Gabelli SRI Fund Goes Public

June 4, 2007 (PLANPSONSOR.com) - Gabelli Funds, LLC has just made an initial public offering of its socially responsible investment company Gabelli SRI Fund Inc.

According to a company press release, the Gabelli SRI Fund invests in publicly traded companies considered by portfolio manager Christopher Desmarais, a Senior Vice President and Director of SRI for GAMCO Investors, as socially responsible.

Desmarais joined the company 12 years ago and will be primarily responsible for making the day-to-day investment decisions for the Fund’s portfolio.  

“At Gabelli, we believe socially responsible investing is the integration of personal values and societal concerns with each investment decision,” Desmarais said, in the press release. “Our long term experience in socially responsible investing gives us perspective on the market, while our internal social screening process allows us to find companies with not only business value, but social value as well.”
