GAO Reports Go Mobile

March 6, 2012 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is continuing its efforts to disseminate its work through the use of emerging technologies by releasing a new mobile application.

The free app—available to users of Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads—provides mobile access to new reports, testimonies, videos and podcasts.

“GAO is committed to ensuring that our work is as accessible as possible, both to Congress and to the public,” said Gene L. Dodaro, comptroller general of the U.S. and head of GAO. “On Capitol Hill and beyond, our users are increasingly accessing our work from their mobile devices. The GAO app will help them get the information they need when and where they need it.”

The GAO app joins other GAO digital initiatives that include podcasts, online videos and report graphics, and a presence on Facebook and Twitter. Users can download the app from the Apple app store, http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gao/id489666309?ls=1&mt=8. GAO also hopes to launch a similar application for Android devices in the coming months.

The most recent retirement industry-related GAO report discussed strategies public defined benefit plans are taking to ensure sustainability (see “Downturn Spurs Public DB Plan Efforts to Address Sustainability“).
