GE Offers Enhanced Indexing Product

January 8, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - GE Asset Management is now offering plan sponsors an institutional enhanced indexing product, the US Research Enhanced S&P 500 product.

Enhanced index funds aim to outperform the benchmark through tightly controlled, low-risk, active strategies – essentially a middle ground between passive and active fund management.  Most commonly, enhanced indexers buy a limited number of select stocks held in the index, or acquiring exposure through the futures market.

The GE option is collectively managed by a team of twelve U.S. research analysts at GE Asset Management and overseen by Dick Sanderson, Senior Vice President and Director of Research.

Assets have been managed in this style for GE employees and retirees since 1992 through the GE Pension Trust, according to the press release.
