Guardian Creates Plan Participant Website

June 4, 2013 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – The Guardian Insurance & Annuity Company, Inc., has launched a plan participant website to help people better prepare for retirement.

The website, 401k.guardianlife.com, provides access to an array of educational resources to help retirement plan participants plan, save and invest for their future. Educational articles, retirement planning tutorials, online saving and retirement calculators, videos and infographics on the site are designed to help plan participants learn more about retirement planning, as well answer questions.

“We know that Americans are habitually unprepared for retirement,” said Jason Frain, vice president, 401(k) Product Management and Development, Guardian Retirement Solutions. “The new website is part of Guardian’s ongoing commitment to educate and motivate people to start the planning process early and to begin saving for post-career living. As the go-to provider for the small-plan 401(k) market, Guardian continues to invest in new resources that help empower participants to plan, save, and invest for retirement.”

The site also helps participants identify their investment style, Frain said, and determine if they are a “do it for me” or a “do it myself” investor. “Do it for me” investors might consider target date funds, a balanced account or a managed account from a professional money manager if they are new to investing or uncomfortable managing investments on their own. “Do it myself” investors can get started by taking the site’s Risk Assessment Quiz, which helps determine how best to allocate plan investments and utilize many of the educational resources available for a better understanding of investment and asset-allocation basics.

The site’s Learning Center allows users to search for content by life-stage (Just Starting Out, Nearing Retirement or In Retirement) or by medium (articles, videos, calculators and tutorials) so that they can customize the experience based on needs and preferences. The site also includes information on meeting the needs of small-business owners and their employees.

The site, which was developed with S&P Capital IQ Financial Communications, is iPad-friendly and accessible via mobile devices.
