Guardian Offers HSA Compliant Health Plans

September 7, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America now offers High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) that meet IRS requirements for use along with Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

A company press release says the HSA compliant medical plans can be used along with HSAs offered by any qualified financial institution.   Participants can decide the HSA that is best for them with help from their employer or the Web site  www.HSAInsider.com .

The news release pointed out that HSA compliant medical plans help employers save on health care costs by reducing premiums, and HDHPs offer lower rates than similar plans with lower deductibles.   Employers may choose to use all or a part of the cost savings to contribute to employees’ HSAs.

Stu Shaw, Vice President of Group Products at Guardian said in the news release, “We are excited to make this option available to the 20 million small business owners throughout the country who can benefit from this lower premium cost while offering a vital employee benefit.”

Guardian also offers consumer-driven health plans to employer groups in select markets through an alliance with Destiny Health (See  New Partnership Debuts CDHP in Illinois ).  This health care option provides consumer-controlled savings accounts for discretionary and discounted services and offers comprehensive coverage for uncontrollable costs like hospitalizations.

The HSA compliant plans will not be available in all markets.   Availability of these plans can be confirmed at http://www.guardianlife.com/home/get_quotes_and_product_info.html.
