Half of Adult Children Know Parents’ Money Situation

October 25, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Forty-seven percent of adult children with retired parents say they have had detailed conversations with them about their income and expenses.

A news release from the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) about its recently released 2010 Health Confidence Survey (HCS) said 54% of retired parents reported having the in-depth conversations with their adult children.

Meanwhile, 42% of adult children said they know about how much money their retired parents have, while 63% of the parents said they think their adult children have this information.

The survey was conducted by EBRI and Mathew Greenwald & Associates (see Health Cost Hikes Drive Savings Cutbacks).

More information about the survey results is at http://ebri.org/surveys/hcs/2010/.
