Hartford Creates Centralized Retirement Unit

February 13, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. has combined its 401(k), 457 and 403(b) businesses into the Hartford Retirement Plans Group, the company announced in a news release.

Jim Davey, Vice President for group retirement plans at The Hartford, leads the new unit and reports to John Walters, head of The Hartford’s Investment Products Division, according to the company.

According to the announcement, the firm’s new retirement plans segment will benefit from a “significant” resource investment in 2006. In recent months, staff members have been added both from within The Hartford and the industry to complement the current team and drive additional customer initiatives.

For example, according to the announcement, Peter Moore was recently hired to lead the firm’s 403(b) area. Jamie Ohl has recently joined as Vice President in charge of product and pricing initiatives across all retirement plans.

Hartford veteran Marty Swanson has taken on the newly created role of chief marketing officer for the Retirement Plans Group.
