Headaches Hurt Productivity

August 20, 2001(PLANSPONSOR.com) - More than half the respondents in a survey of working women who suffer from migraines reported that their migraines affected their ability to function at work.

The survey, conducted by the National Headache Foundation also found that:

  • almost 90% of those surveyed suffer migraine attacks while at work,
  • over 40% name workplace stress at their most common headache trigger,
  • over 60% say their headaches become so severe they are forced to take time off work, and
  • nearly 80% report lost productivity

In addition, some 37% of the sample says that their home and family responsibilities are also compromised, and, among those who travel for business, 53%, experience migraines while traveling.
