Health Plan Complexity Confuses

June 14, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Most people don't understand their health benefits coverage options well enough to make good decisions, a new survey has found.

The survey, by D S Howard & Associates, asked 101 benefits management professionals at corporations with 500 or more employees to assess their employees’ views about health benefits:

· 54% said most/some employees think the rules about coverage are difficult and hard to find,

· 48% said most/some employees find health plans too complex and hard to understand, and

· 42% said most/some employees have difficulty getting timely answers to their benefits questions.
