Hits on Career Sites Are Surging

August 15, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The number of users visiting career sites on the Internet increased by 32.2% in the last six months, according to Internet analysis and measurement company, Jupiter Media Metrix.

The company, which released its Web and digital media property ratings for July 2001, found that the number of unique visitors to career sites surged from from14.1 million to 18.6 million unique visitors over the period. 

The number of unique visitors refers to the number of total users who visited the reported Web site at least once over the month. All unique visitors are only counted once.

Further, total minutes spent on these career sites grew 24.2%, from 327 million minutes in February 2001 to 406 million in July 2001.

Younger users where the most avid users of these sites, with persons aged 18-44 making up 71% of all visitors to career sites over the month.

The top career sites were:

  • hotjobs.com with 6.3 million unique visitors, 
  • monster.com with 6.2 million, and 
  • jobsonline.com with 5.0 million.
