ICI: Funds Bulk Up by 2.8% in April

May 30, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The combined assets of the nation's mutual funds increased by $303 billion, or 2.8%, to $11.06 trillion in April, according to the Investment Company Institute's (ICI) survey.

class=”normal-1″> Long-term funds – stock, bond, and hybrid funds – had a net inflow of $34.61 billion in April, vs. an inflow of $25.64 billion in March (See  Mutual Fund Flows Fall Off in March ), ICI said in a news release.

class=”normal-1″> Stock funds posted an inflow of $18.31 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $8.11 billion in March. Among stock funds, world equity funds posted an inflow of $16.58 billion in April, vs. an inflow of $7.05 billion in March. Funds that invest primarily in the US had an inflow of $1.74 billion in April, vs. an inflow of $1.06 billion in March, according to the ICI data.

class=”normal-1″> Hybrid funds posted an inflow of $2.73 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $2.69 billion in March.

class=”normal-1″> Meanwhile, bond funds had an inflow of $13.56 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $14.84 billion in March. Taxable bond funds had an inflow of $12.23 billion in April, vs. an inflow of $12 billion in March. Municipal bond funds had an inflow of $1.33 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $2.85 billion in March.
