Ill. House Approves Pension Perks Restriction Bill
April 19, 2012 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Illinois House
approved a proposal to make it more difficult for government workers to get
pension increases.
Reported by Tara Cantore
According to the Chicago Tribune, the legislation would require three-fifths vote by state lawmakers, city councils and school districts around the state to increase any employee pension perks.
The three-fifths mandate for approving pension boosters is a higher bar than the simple majority required at most levels of government, reported the Chicago Tribune.
The constitutional amendment proposal will now go to the Senate, where it is expected to be approved in time to appear on the November ballot.
