Iraq War Is Not Affecting Productivity

April 25, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Most human resource professionals (72%) find distractions caused by the war in Iraq have no effect on office productivity.

Only 24% said the military action had any negative impact on office productivity, while a tiny minority (3%) actually reported an increase in productivity. The latest figures come following the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently asking, “How is the war affecting productivity in your organization?”

Overall, 289 responses came in, with those polled revealing the war’s effect on productivity:

  • 72% “no effect on productivity
  • 22% “somewhat decreasing productivity”
  • 3% “somewhat increasing productivity”
  • 2% “greatly decreasing productivity”
