John Hancock Offers Non-Qual Program

May 19, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - John Hancock has unveiled a nonqualified deferred compensation product.

A John Hancock news release said that its new Key Employee Excess Enhancement Plan (KEEEP) program includes marketing materials that are designed to help producers sell deferred compensation cases.

Offered as part of the product are business owner and employee brochures on how the plans work and their benefits, as well as a sample client presentation, the news release said. The package also contains executable documents needed to implement the plan, that are ready for the plan sponsor’s legal counsel, and a producer guide offering a comprehensive program overview, according to the announcement.

Other features include Web site assistance with PDF files ready for download, Web-based third party plan administration through The Pangburn Company, and support and assistance from John Hancock’s Corporate Products & Design Group.

The news release said the program is informally funded with life insurance. “The turnkey KEEEP marketing program offers a simple way for producers in the estate planning and 401(k) markets to enter the nonqualified benefits market and gives those already selling in this market an excellent prospecting tool,” said Robert Cook, executive vice president, John Hancock Life Insurance, in the news release. “The program will simplify the nonqualified deferred compensation sales process and help financial advisors close cases.”
