Kaiser Rolls Out Redesigned Web Site

January 26, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Kaiser Permanente has swung open the doors to the public of its wealth of health-care information in the launch of its redesigned Web site.

The site – accessible via  www.kaiserpermanente.org  or  www.kp.org  – offers access to Kaiser’s health-care information to members of the public, whether or not they are Kaiser Permanente members.   Members have had a taste of the new site since last July when the redesigned portal was revealed to them, according to a news release.

The new Web site also introduces new services and online tools for various groups that need information and/or services from Kaiser Permanente, including members, prospective members, employers, brokers, the news media and job seekers.   This includes non-commercial access to more than 40,000 pages of physician-approved health-related information, covering about 1,900 topics, 6,000 medical tests and procedures, according to the release.

Other components of the new site include assessment tools, called “Health Calculators,” which help visitors determine medical factors such as a healthy weight, proper calcium intake and a due date if pregnant.   Also the site includes a drug encyclopedia providing information on more than 3,000 prescription and over-the-counter medications, including how to use medications, side effects and precautions.
