Master Trusts Show Positive Gains in Q3

November 10, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The median master trust showed slightly positive gains in the third quarter, with larger trusts performing better than their smaller counterparts.

The median master trust’s performance figures showed a 0.29% increase from July to September. The year-to-date figures are slightly more encouraging, with the median master trust up 3.26% since January. The totals since last October are even stronger, with the media master trust up 12.50% since then.

For trusts with more than $1 billion, the figures are more encouraging. In the third quarter, such funds were up 0.5%, while over the whole year they are up 3.67%. For the year since last October, master trusts worth over $1 billion are up 13.05%.

These figures come from the Trust Universe Comparison Service (TUCS), a cooperative of Wilshire Analytics and custodial associations. TUCS has 350 plan participants representing almost $2 trillion in assets.
