Mercer Introduces Retirement Business Leader for Pacific Southwest

August 20, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Shams Talib has joined Mercer's retirement, risk and finance business as market business leader for the Pacific Southwest.

Based in Los Angeles, Talib will be responsible for the performance of the firm’s retirement-related business within the geographic market and will serve as a strategic retirement consultant to some of Mercer’s largest clients , the firm announced . As part of his role, Talib will serve on Mercer’s US Retirement Operating Committee and the Pacific Southwest leadership team.

According to the announcement, p rior to joining Mercer, Talib served as principal in the Los Angeles office of Towers Perrin. He began his consulting career at Hewitt Associates in Toronto.

Talib is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA), a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute and of the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts.

Talibis also vice-chairperson of the SOA’s Education and Examination Committee and a past member of the University of Waterloo Actuarial Science Advisory Board. He earned a Bachelor of Mathematics degree in actuarial science and statistics from the University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada).
