Merlin Securities to Launch Securities Lending Group

February 24, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Merlin Securities has announced that co-founder Andy Lando has returned to the firm as a senior partner to head Merlin’s newly formed Securities Lending Group.

“In this role, Andy and his team will centralize all securities lending activities with Merlin’s clearing brokers and give guidance to clients on both supply and rates. This consultative effort will help clients optimize their portfolios and continue to focus on generating returns for their limited partners.” said Stephan Vermut, founder and managing partner of Merlin Securities, in the announcement.

Lando and his team will be based in Merlin’s New York office.

Lando was formerly a managing director and global head of securities lending for Banc of America Securities, before becoming one of the five founding members of Merlin Securities in 2004, according to the announcement. Prior to Banc of America Securities, he was vice president and head of the domestic equity securities lending desk at Paine Webber. Lando began his career with Shearson Lehman Hutton as a securities lending trader.
