Mesirow Strengthens Investment Strategies Business

May 11, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Mesirow Financial’s Investment Strategies group has announced promotions and new hires that it says strengthen the team and augment plan sponsor and plan provider offerings.

The group has promoted Michael Annin from managing director to senior managing director and Wenli Tan from consultant to senior consultant, in addition to hiring Bryan Platz and Jack Koludrovic as consultants.  

According to the announcement, Annin has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services and investment management industry. He previously spent 12 years at Ibbotson Associates, where he managed the Investment Management, Investment Services and the Financial Data Products divisions. Prior to that, he held positions with Bear, Stearns & Company, IPC Group and Abbott Laboratories. Annin is a CFA Charterholder, and received his M.B.A. from the University of Texas and his B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.

Tan holds seven years of experience in the financial services and investment management industry. She serves on fiduciary partnership engagements with retirement plan providers and provides extensive quantitative and qualitative fund research. Prior to joining Mesirow Financial, she was a mutual fund analyst at Morningstar, conducting fund manager evaluations and serving as a member of the 529 college savings plan team. Prior to that, she served as an investment analyst at Ennis Knupp & Associates. Tan is a CFA Charterholder. She earned her B.A. from the University of Rochester, with honors, and is currently pursuing her M.B.A. at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Platz holds more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, and will provide due diligence and analysis in support of Mesirow Financial’s investment advisers. He joined Mesirow Financial after serving as a consultant with Morningstar, assisting clients with manager search and due diligence and asset allocation strategies. Prior to that, he held positions at Deutsche Bank and WJC Trading. Platz is a CFA Charterholder and received his B.S. from Miami University.

Koludrovic will provide extensive quantitative and qualitative fund research for institutional due diligence engagements and fiduciary partnership relationships. He previously served as officer and investment performance analyst at The Northern Trust Company, providing customized performance reports and analysis for clients. Prior to that, he served as a senior portfolio accounting analyst, executing audit and accounting duties. He earned his B.S. from the University of Illinois and has passed Levels I and II of the CFA Exam.
  

The Investment Strategies group at Mesirow Financial is an independent, third-party investment consultant that provides asset allocation strategies and fund selection to defined contribution providers, insurance companies, broker/dealers and mutual fund companies.
