National Employee Benefits Day to Focus on Workplace Wellness

March 8, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – National Employee Benefits Day will be celebrated on April 6, 2010.

A press release from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans says that in 2010, National Employee Benefits Day has a special focus on workplace wellness. Employers can use the day to introduce new wellness initiatives and to encourage their employees to live a healthier lifestyle by hosting a lunch-and-learn program on a wellness topic, challenging employees to walk on their lunch, offering healthier snacks in the vending machines, or hosting on-site preventative screenings, according to the IFEBP.

The organization offers a Web site with resources to help employers prepare for the day, including free tip sheets titled Start Eating Healthy Today and Get Moving!, a list of government resources, and special Benefits Day discounts on wellness books and e-learning courses. In addition, the site has suggestions of how to celebrate, free e-cards and posters, and Benefits Day premium items, including a National Employee Benefits Day mug.

On April 6, visitors to the site can take a 10-question wellness quiz and enter to win one of 50 National Employee Benefits Day mugs.

The Web site is at www.ifebp.org/benefitsday.
