Networking Most Effective Recruitment Tactic
While 95% of 566 human resources professionals and 439 job seekers surveyed in the poll, conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and CareerJournal.com, make use of this method, other tactics frequently used by both groups are:
- Internet job postings (88% by HR professionals and 96% by job-seekers)
- print newspaper ads (96% and 95% respectively)
- and employee referrals (91% and 92%).
In addition, the poll found that human resource professionals focus on more formal, quantitative methods, than those used by job seekers, almost half of whom cite places of worship as a job hunting ground with an effectiveness rate of 22%.
All of the 22 search tactics listed in the poll were used at higher rate by job seekers than by recruitment professionals, with exception of newspaper advertisements and minority job fairs, which those in human resources used marginally more.
