New Web Recruiting Extension Touted

(June 20, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Employers and job seekers will soon have an easier and more efficient means of finding each other, courtesy of a new domain extension.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and “.jobs” are now accepting applications for the new top-level domains available for companies’ use in August.

According to SHRM, most US organizations already use their company’s web site to advertise job vacancies, but the new .jobs sites will give job seekers more streamlined access to information about a job they are looking for.   Once established, a prospective employee would simply have to type the web address “‘www. companyname. jobs'” to go directly to job vacancies with any company they know or hear about.

Susan R. Meisinger, SPHR, president and CEO of SHRM says, “The new .jobs is the ‘best of practice’, and will become the new standard for recruiting.”   HR professionals already say the Internet produces the highest quality job applicants of all mediums.   To apply for its own .jobs site, an organization must complete an online application at www.employeemedia.com .   Organizations can only register a domain with their legal or commonly known business name,

.jobs serves the global human resource management community by providing a consistent method to lead job seekers to the exact online location of career information, according to the firm.
