Participants can also choose to receive the document electronically, with the added features of interactive learning tools and more detailed statement information, the news release said.

An accompanying Web site provides participants with information and assistance through the Internet. Participants can access archived versions of SmartStatement on the site.

SmartStatement can also incorporate personal messaging, which focuses on one specific retirement or financial-planning concern each quarter. The topic is chosen for each participant based on data from the recordkeeping system.
