NewRiver and Newkirk Settle Patent Infringement Claim

June 24, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – NewRiver Inc. and Newkirk Products Inc. jointly announced that they have settled the patent litigation between them involving NewRiver's United States Patent Number 6,122,635 for Mapping Compliance Information Into Useable Format.

NewRiver and Newkirk declined further comment citing the confidentiality of the settlement agreement.

In April 2009, a jury turned aside NewRiver’s patent infringement lawsuit contending that Newkirk’s EDGAR-View service infringed on a NewRiver patent that serves as the basis for NewRiver’s ProspectusExpress service (see Newkirk Wins Patent Infringement Claim). The jury found Newkirk had not infringed on any remaining valid claims and also rejected NewRiver’s position that Newkirk had breached an earlier contract  between the two companies when Newkirk developed and sold its EDGAR-View service.
