NY Life Benefit CEO Disend Retires

December 8, 2000 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Recordkeeping pioneer Joel Disend, chairman and chief executive officer of New York Life Benefit Services, has announced his retirement, effective December 31, 2000.

NYLB President Thomas Clough will assume Disend’s executive duties, while CFO Joseph Henehan has taken on additional management responsibilities.

NYLB also announced the retirement of John Quesnel, vice president of professional services.

Disend, 58, co-founded in 1970 and ran NYLB’s predecessor, ADQ, Inc. Following the 1994 acquisition of ADQ by New York Life Disend has served as the subsidiary’s president, chief executive officer and, most recently, chairman. He will remain as an NYLB consultant for the foreseeable future, according to NYLB.

Quesnel, also 58, has been responsible for the ERISA consulting, compliance and client service departments at NYLB. Active in the pension actuarial and consulting field for 32 years, he became a principal with ADQ in 1976.

NYLB has appointed Mark Niziak, counsel, to assume Quesnel’s management responsibilities after his retirement at the end of the year.
