OFI Launches Asset Allocation Tool

April 7, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - OppenheimerFunds, Inc. (OFI) has launched a new asset allocation tool.

Navigator, the tool from OFI, is an asset allocation program that helps participants choose a targeted investment mix based on their risk tolerance and projected number of years to retirement. The percentage of money placed in each asset class depends in large part on a participant’s investment objective, how much risk they are willing to take and how much time the investor has until they need to access the money for retirement needs, according to a news release.

In addition to providing a means to determine an initial asset allocation, the program rebalances participants’ portfolios at a frequency chosen by the plan sponsor, thereby restoring the participant’s original asset mix that may have shifted due to changes in the market and variable performance of different asset classes. Plan sponsors may choose to have their plan’s Navigator models rebalanced quarterly, semiannually or annually.

OFI said in the release that Navigator is designed to be used primarily in conjunction with OppenheimerFunds’ qualified retirement plans programs such as Pinnacle and Record(k)eeper Pro.   OppenheimerFunds, Inc. is not affiliated with Oppenheimer & Co, Inc, or Oppenheimer Capital.
