PA Gov. Signs Tax Credit Bill for Employers

July 7, 2006 ( - Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell signed a bill into law this week that would make employers giving paid leave to employees who donate bone morrow or organs paid eligible for tax credits.

According to Business Insurance, the amount of tax credit an employer receives will be equal to their cost of providing paid leave of up to five days.

The costs to the employer include the amount of the employee’s compensation during the leave and the cost of temporary help to fill in for the employee on leave.

Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney signed a bill in October that allowed employees up to 30 days of paid leave for organ donation (See MA Governor Signs Leave Law for Organ Donation ).
