The Gibsonia, Pennsylvania-based trucking company has agreed to pay more than $500,000 to the women to resolve the sexual harassment charges. Per terms of the settlement PJAX must also revise its anti-discrimination policy, implement anti-discrimination training, and hire a human resources specialist to investigate discrimination complaints, according to an Associated Press report.
The settlement comes following a May lawsuit filed against the company by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). In the suit, the EEOC accused PJAX of subjecting several female employees to sexual harassment since at least 1999. This included charges that PJAX’s owners and other managers screamed vulgarities at female employees, called them sexually derogatory names and made them perform chores that were construed as demeaning to women (See EEOC Files Suit Against Truck Company ).
PJAX still denies any harassment occurred, but agreed to the settlement to avoid the expenses associated with a court case, PJAX spokeswoman Roxanne Germ told the AP.
