Participants Stick to Their Strategies

May 10, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Most 401(k) participants plan to keep to their current investment strategies and almost a third will increase the amount of their contribution, a poll shows.

Results from the Fidelity 401(k) Confidence Poll  that covered 440 participants, showed:

  • almost four out of five participants surveyed are very or somewhat confident that, by the time they retire,  they will have enough saved
  • 67% are now more confident, or as confident, about meeting their retirement needs compared with last year.

The poll showed that the vast majority of participants were sticking with their current 401(k) portfolios. While 63% plan to contribute at current levels for the remainder of the year, 27% will increase their plan contributions.
