Principal Launches Ninth Search for the 10 Best

February 1, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Providing a sense of financial security for employees whether the economy is in a downturn or recovery takes an extraordinary commitment.

To honor and acknowledge that commitment, the Principal Financial Group has launched its Ninth annual search for The Principal 10 Best Companies for Employee Financial Security.

The program, sponsored by The Principal, recognizes 10 growing companies (with five to 1,000 employees) that “excel at helping employees build their financial futures through benefits programs,” according to the announcement.  Companies are not required to be clients of the Principal.

An independent panel of benefits experts selects the winners, who receive national recognition and acclaim as role models for other growing businesses. Judges will evaluate companies in the context of current economic realities.  Winning companies are able to use the recognition in their marketing and recruiting efforts. They are also featured in a national best practices guide (see The Principal Releases Guide Based on 10 Best Companies).

“The Principal 10 Best Companies judges recognize the tremendous challenges facing companies as they adjust to and, in some cases, rebuild from the economic crisis,” said Luke Vandermillen, vice president, The Principal. “Judges are looking for employers who demonstrate that the long-term financial security of their work force is a priority.”

“It was an honor to be named to this distinguished list,” said Jim Harrington, vice president of human resources, Synaptics Inc, winner The Principal 10 Best—2009 (see Principal Announces 10 Best for Employee Financial Security 2009). “To have an objective panel of experts validate and extol our benefit program reinforces to our employees—and potential hires—that we are a great place to work.”

Nomination, entry forms, and profiles of the 2009 winners are available at http://www.principal.com/10bestThe deadline for entries is April 30, 2010.  Winners will be announced in the fall of 2010.
