Principal Names Retirement Unit Exec VP

August 29, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Board members at the Principal Financial Group have elected Larry Zimpleman executive vice president of retirement and investor services.

Zimpleman will be responsible for US asset accumulation, which includes Principal’s pension, mutual fund and annuity products, in addition to supporting the group’s overseas retirement business.

He presently serves as president of Principal Financial Advisors and on the board of directors at Princor Financial Services Corp.

Zimpleman, who began his career at The Principal in 1971 as a part-time actuarial student, has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business administration from Drake University.

He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a member of the Des Moines Actuaries’ Club, a past president of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a member of the Board of Governors of the Society of Actuaries.

The promotion is effective immediately.
