Principal Offers EAP For Long Term Disability Members

September 1, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Principal Financial Group now offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for its members on long term disability, through Magellan Health Services.

In its press release, Principal says the EAP will offer consultations and solutions for personal issues such as emotional counseling, finding child and elder care, and access to financial planning services.

Members can call a toll-free number and speak directly with an experienced counselor who assesses employee needs and offers appropriate resources, according to the release.   Online tools are available for a variety of conditions including family relationships, parenting, fitness, stress management, and vocational exploration.   Members answer questions and receive immediate recommendations for care choices or direction to the appropriate services.

“An employee assistance program alleviates many of the fears associated with long-term disability and helps members cope with many aspects of life,” said Deanna Strable, senior vice president of the Principal Financial Group, in the release.

Magellan Health Services is a behavioral health disease management organization specializing in mental health, substance abuse, and employee assistance/work-life programs for health plans.
