Principal Unveils Hearing Aid, Gym Membership Programs

October 29, 2007 ( - The Principal Financial Group has unveiled two new discount programs available to insurance and wellness customers: a "significant" savings on hearing aids and a discount on a fitness club membership.

According to a Principal news release, the company is working with American Hearing Benefits, Inc. (AHB) to offer savings on all styles of digital hearing aids. Through the AHB discount program, all employees covered under any group product including health, wellness, disability, life, dental or vision receive:

  • free annual hearing screenings for members, their spouse, children, parents and grandparents,
  • referral to a local provider,
  • up to 60% savings off suggested retail prices; and
  • a two-year extended warranty included with purchase at no additional charge.

According to the announcement, the Principal is also introducing a new program through International Fitness Club Network (IFCN), giving health and wellness members access to preferred pricing on membership fees at fitness clubs throughout the country.

We’ll continue to look for new ways to make it easy for our customers to get and stay healthy,” said Audrey Vaughn, second vice president of wellness and medical management for The Principal, in the news release.
