Professional Level Hiring to Remain Steady

March 2, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - A net 5% of executives interviewed for The Robert Half Professional Employment Report said they expect to add full-time, professional-level employees in the second quarter of 2011 - unchanged from the first-quarter survey.

Nine percent plan to increase staff, while 4% anticipate declines. Most respondents (86%) expect to maintain current personnel levels.  

Thirty-seven percent of respondents said it is challenging to find skilled professionals.   

According to a press release, the report also revealed: 

  • Businesses in the Mountain states project the most hiring activity, with a net 11% of executives from this region planning to add professional-level staff in the second quarter.  
  • Companies in the wholesale sector expect the most active hiring in the second quarter. A net 15% of executives anticipate staff additions.  
  • The legal field is expected to see the strongest hiring, with a net 29% of law firms planning to increase staff levels. 
  • Eighty-six percent of executives are at least somewhat confident in their organizations’ ability to grow in the second quarter; 40% are very confident.
