Professionals Posting Resumes Online Use Job Boards Aggressively

May 14, 2008 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The majority of professionals post their resumes to multiple job boards when searching for work, according to a poll by Beyond.com, Inc., a network of specialty career communities.

A press release said, of the 6,400+ poll respondents:

  • 24% have their resume posted on one to two job boards,
  • 29% have their resume posted on three to four job boards,
  • 18% – Have their resume posted on five or more job boards, and
  • 29% do not have their resume posted online.

Of the professionals who currently have their resume posted online, nearly 54% agreed that geographic and industry-specific job sites are most effective when searching for a job, while the remainder chose general job boards.

“There has been a growing trend towards the use of niche-specific job boards because many job seekers and employers are realizing general job boards may no longer be an effective standalone employment solution,” Rich Milgram, CEO of Beyond.com, said in the release. “As a result, job seekers are posting their resumes to multiple job boards and other online communities that more closely match their individual career needs and personal goals to increase their chances of landing their next job.”
