The PWBA says the new form is unchanged from the 1999 version, but includes some instructional clarifications.
The clarifications have previously been published in the form of Q&As on the PWBA web site.
The filing deadlines for the Year 2000 Form M-1 are, however, different. The Year 2000 Form M-1 is generally due March 1, 2001, but plan administrators can request an automatic 60-day extension.
Generally MEWAs are arrangements which offer medical benefits to the employees of two or more employers or to their beneficiaries, according to the PWBA.
The Year 2000 Form M-1 is available by calling PWBA’s toll-free publication hotline at 1-800-998-7542 and will be available soon on the Internet at www.dol.gov/dol/pwba . You can get help in completing the form by calling the PWBA Help Desk at (202) 219-8770.
The announcement was published in today’s Federal Register .
