Schwab Links With Morningstar for Advice

January 14, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - A group of Charles Schwab Corporation's recordkeeping clients will soon offer 401(k) plan sponsors and their participants online advice via Morningstar ClearFuture.

When the service goes live next month for Schwab Retirement Technologies clients, a Schwab recordkeeping system will move data on participants’ retirement savings to Morningstar ClearFuture. That, in turn, will give participants specific investment recommendations on their retirement plan assets.

According to Schwab, the service, which is fully integrated with Morningstar’s proprietary stock and mutual fund databases, will provide participants with access to:

  • research,
  • education,
  • investment guidance, and
  • advice

Morningstar ClearFuture will provide asset-allocation suggestions and specific investment advice that takes into consideration all of an individual’s retirement assets.

The service also creates diversified portfolios using the investment options available in the participant’s plan.
