Schwab Releases New Retirement Plan Application Programming Interface

August 5, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Charles Schwab Corporate Services has unwrapped a new utensil allowing retirement plan administrators to develop custom applications for their clients.

Developed by Schwab Retirement Technology (RT), Developer’s Toolkit is an A pplication Programming Interface (API) that offers plan administrators direct access to Schwab RT recordkeeping business rules and data. As a result, they can integrate their own applications within the Schwab RT system architecture, according to a news release.

Once integrated, plan administrators can use the Developer’s Toolkit to:

  • extend configuration options offered in Schwab RT Web and call center applications
  • develop their own Web and call center applications
  • develop other custom applications that use Schwab RT recordkeeping data and business rules
  • integrate data from other benefit plan sources, such as defined benefit or health care.

Additionally, as Schwab RT software code is enhanced through new releases, the Developer’s Toolkit will   automatically update clients’ custom applications to maintain a consistent interface. For added flexibility, the Developer’s Toolkit is compatible with multiple platforms and operates in both the Pervasive and SQL database environments.
