Senate Confirms DOL Asst. Secretaries

April 12, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Senate has confirmed, by unanimous consent, two assistant secretaries at the Department of Labor (DOL), Chris Spear as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Policy and Kristine Iverson as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Congressional Affairs.

Before the move to DOL, Iverson worked for Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) for 24 years, most recently as his legislative director, according to the Bureau of National Affairs. In a statement released April 9, Labor Secretary Chao said Iverson would be responsible for coordinating with other federal agencies, promoting President Bush’s agenda on Capitol Hill, and reaching out to state and local governments.

Iverson is a graduate of DePauw University and received her master’s degree in economics from George Mason University.
