Senate Readies for Pension Reform Proposals

March 30, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Senate is expected to turn its attention to pension reform with the likely introduction of two new bills.

Senators Charles Grassley (R-IA) and Max Baucus (D-MT) are expected to introduce the lead companion bill in the Senate the week of April 2, according to the American Benefits Council. On March 27, Senator George Voinovich (R-OH) introduced an exact replica of the Portman-Cardin bill as S. 631 in the Senate.

Representatives Rob Portman (R-OH) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) recently introduced the Comprehensive Retirement Security and Pension Reform Bill (H.R. 10) in the House.
