S&P Names New President

March 29, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Kathleen Corbet has been tapped as the new president of Standard & Poor's, the company announced Monday.

Corbet’s appointment is effective April 19, 2004. She is currently chief executive officer of the Fixed Income Division at Alliance Capital Management and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Corbet replaces Leo O’Neill, who will retire April 30.

Corbet has held a variety of management positions at Alliance Capital Management and its parent company, AXA Financial. During her tenure as head of Alliance Capital’s Fixed Income Division, its assets under management grew to more than $165 billion globally, and it increased market share, revenue and profitability.

She also has been actively involved in Alliance Capital’s strategic planning, global growth and acquisition integrations. Corbet recently served as chairman of Alliance Capital Australia and New Zealand. Corbet, 44, graduated from Boston College with a B.S. in Marketing and Computer Science and received her M.B.A. in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
