S&P Won't Charge Investment Fee on Platform-Generated Portfolios

September 27, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Fee-based advisors can put together a basket of individual stocks and other securities on Standard & Poor's platform without incurring a separate investment management fee, S&P announced.

Investors would still pay an S&P platform fee for portfolios built on Portfolio Advisor for all of the services available including research, technology and maintenance of the account, the company said. The Portfolio Advisor allows advisors to structure client’s investment portfolios across a range of security types by using Standard & Poor’s Model Allocation Portfolios (MAPs).

“Standard & Poor’s research has shown that performance and fees are linked – the lower the management fees the better the performance of the mutual fund,” said Phil Edwards, Managing Director at Standard & Poor’s, in a news release.  “As a result, Standard & Poor’s wants to provide its clients with the most cost effective portfolios possible.”

Exchange Traded Funds are also available on the Portfolio Advisor Platform providing financial advisors with the ability to create a portfolio consisting of ETFs and Standard & Poor’s stock baskets tied to an asset allocation model.
