Standard Announces LTD Product

June 5, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Standard Insurance Company has unveiled Basic LTD, a long term disability (LTD) product designed for employers with large groups of employees at higher risk for disability, such as retail workers or those who perform physically demanding jobs.

A Standard news release said Basic LTD coverage is for groups with 15 or more covered employees and includes features such as an Employee Assistance Program (for groups with 15 – 2,500 covered), Reasonable Accommodation Expense Benefit and Rehabilitation Plan Provision.

Basic LTD coverage is a nontraditional LTD plan offering a lower benefit percentage in return for benefits that are not reduced by Social Security Disability Insurance payments, work earnings or other income which the employee receives or is eligible to receive, according to the news release.

“Basic LTD provides essential disability coverage for employers who may have thought a traditional LTD plan was out of reach,” said Jane E. Hood, vice president of Employee Benefits Marketing, in the news release. “It’s another way to help employers provide this important coverage as part of a balanced benefit plan.”
